Zoning Code Analyst (Full-Time) & GEOSPATIAL ANALYST (Full-time)

Intern (Part-Time)

The National Zoning Atlas central team is seeking applicants for zoning code interns and geospatial interns. Position responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the completion of the National Zoning Atlas by collecting and analyzing zoning code texts and inputting analysis into a central database using standard methodology (for zoning code interns) or collecting, collecting, cleaning, and merging geospatial files, and inputting clean files into a central database (for geospatial interns).

  • Conducting accuracy checks on data collected by the National Zoning Atlas team.

  • Maintaining the utmost standards of research integrity.

  • Participating in regular team meetings, efforts to improve and update methodology, and opportunities for professional development.

  • • Candidate for a JD or graduate program in planning, GIS, urban studies, or related fields; only in the rarest circumstances will an undergraduate be hired.

    • Knowledge of land use issues; familiarity with zoning code format and content (for zoning code interns) or knowledge of GIS, GIS data formats (e.g., GeoJSON), and/or georeferencing (for geospatial interns).

    • Desire to work in a dynamic environment on a complex data collection research project.

    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Salary will be paid hourly at a rate of between $15-18 per hour, for this part-time position. Successful candidates will commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week, for a minimum of 15 weeks. Work is expected to be conducted remotely.
